The Sky-Watcher Heliostar 100 Hα solar telescope is tuned to the hydrogen alpha line of 656.28 nm with a maximum bandwidth of 0.5 angstroms, providing an extremely detailed and high-contrast image of solar eruptions (protuberances) and flares on the surface of the Sun, as well as details that are not visible at all with a conventional solar filter. The 100 mm objective lens diameter provides exceptional resolution and detail.

The Heliostar 100 Hα solar telescope uses a combination of front and rear filters to allow only monochromatic light with a wavelength of 656.28 nanometers emitted by hydrogen atoms to pass through. These filters reflect infrared radiation, block heat and UV light, and prevent stray light. The Sky-Watcher Heliostar 100 Hα solar telescope complies with ISO standard 12312-2:2015 and is therefore safe for observers eyes.
